Why its called 'Good Friday'

It’s called Good Friday. Yet for many, the question still arises: why is it called “Good”?

It is on this day that we commemorate the Passion and death of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

A death He took upon Himself that was not His.
A sin He carried that was not His.

Perhaps that is why He felt deserted by His Father as He hung on the cross. So how can we call such a day good?

Our human minds may never fully grasp the ways or thoughts of God (Is 55:8). And as the world moves further into an age of artificial intelligence, the question remains a valid one.

The answer, perhaps, begins in humility. When we look honestly at our own interior lives, examining our conscience from a human perspective, not even a religious one, we begin to see something uncomfortable.

We are far more deserving of that cross than He was.

And yet, this is the mystery.
While we deserved the cross, Jesus took our place.

And in doing so, He made it good for us.

Which leads to another question, perhaps the more important one:
Will we choose to accept Him as our Saviour?

The choice is ours alone.

Let’s make a good one.

Have a blessed Good Friday.
